What is the difference between the Virtual Office Website (VOW) and IDX products?

There are several differences. The primary difference is that the while some IDX accounts allow for customized user registration, the VOW product requires all of your website visitors to register and log in before they can search for or view properties.

As part of the registration process, registrants must agree to the VOW Terms of Use. Additionally, registrant accounts will be disabled after 90 days of inactivity, and active accounts expire after 180 days. All registrants can re-activate their accounts should they need to.

Once inside your VOW, visitors will not see the listing broker information for properties, as compared to IDX websites where listing broker information must be displayed.

Will the VOW pages match the look & feel of my existing website design?

Yes. Your website designer can frame the VOW pages into your site, and the pages will automatically appear within the context of your existing site.

Alternatively, your website designer can “wrap” the VOW pages with HTML branding to match the rest of your existing website. This is just a matter of copying what you’re already using on your site and pasting it into a screen in your Control Panel. This will allow your website visitors to navigate through every page of your site and see a consistent design throughout.

In either case, you also have the option of using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to customize the colors and fonts of the VOW pages themselves.

Can I customize my search page to focus on my market area?

Yes. By default, every city and neighborhood covered by MRED will be included in the city/neighborhood list on your search page. Since we understand that some people like to focus in specific areas, we’ve made it easy for you to customize the city and neighborhood lists so they only includes the areas that you primarily serve. This customization can be done from your account Control Panel.

Can I feature my own listings or my office listings?

The MRED VOW product includes your own page of inventory listings that can be viewed without visitor registration. This page is automatically updated with your new listings as they enter the market, and off-market listings are automatically removed. If you’d like to show your off-market listings on your inventory page – with a status of sold or pending – you can do so. If you don’t have any listings of your own, you can use your inventory page to highlight your office’s listings.

Will my VOW include listings from other MLSs?

No. VOW accounts are limited to displaying MRED listings only.

When will my VOW be activated?

Immediately! In buying this product directly from MRED there is no need to wait for approval or paperwork processing. Your VOW will be instantly activated and can be added to your website today.

Is this service reliable?

Yes. Your VOW will be hosted at a highly reliable, secure data center provided by Rackspace. As a top-tier, national hosting service, Rackspace provides 99.999% availability and high-speed connections to the Internet.

What kind of support is available?

Your Control Panel includes online help and user documentation to help you get the most out of your VOW product. If you have specific questions or problems, just give the MRED Help Desk a call at (630) 955-2755.

How does billing work?

Once you choose the VOW package and submit your credit card information, your account will be created and will be fully active and billable. You will be billed by credit card on the first of each month for service to be provided during that month. However, your very first charge will include a prorated amount for the period of usage prior to your first full billing month. For example, if your service begins on June 15, then on July 1 your credit card will be charged for the period June 16 to June 30, plus for the entire month of July.

Is there a contract to sign? How long is the commitment?

You will need to agree to the terms of the MRED Service & Billing Agreement. There is no long-term commitment. Your account is billed month-to-month. If you wish to cancel your account, or upgrade or downgrade your package, you can do so at any time.

I just signed up and I see two pending authorizations for $1.00 when I view my credit card activity online. What are these authorizations for?

These are temporary authorizations used to ensure that your credit card information is accurate. For most cards, the authorizations will expire within 72 hours (some cards may take longer). While present in your account, these temporary authorizations will be deducted from your available credit, but will not be reflected in your balance due nor on your monthly statement.
